In addition, polyester is easy to wash and very quick to dry. There is minimal care required with polyester giving it the desired wash-and-wear characteristic. This is one of the main reasons why it is used for wicking t-shirts and high performance apparel.
Polyester isn't what it used to be and has improved as a more breathable and comfortable fabric over the last couple of decades. It is no longer synonymous with itchy fabric with low breathability.
