What is a constructed cap?
One of the most common questions we receive from customers is what it means when it says that their hat is a "constructed" hat. A constructed hat is a hat in which the front of the crown, just above the bill has a firm, hard structure to it. Most often this will entail the front two panels of a hat.
The best way to tell whether or not a hat is constructed, besides just feeling it to see if there is an internal structure to it, is to look at when it is sitting on a desk, table, or other surface and observe how it looks. A constructed cap will hold its shape and continue to look like a regular cap. It will look very similar to how it would look if a person were wearing it and it will have its same shape and structure. By comparison an unstructured hat would appear to flop over and would not hold its shape.
One type of hat isn't necessarily any better or worse than another type of hat. It largely just comes down to personal preference. Some people may prefer the way a constructed cap looks and may feel that it looks more uniform. While other people will prefer the look and feel of an unstructured cap. Constructed caps are known being very durable hats though and they do have the advantage of holding their shape over a long period of time due to their added structural support.
Most commonly a constructed cap will receive embroidery as the customization of choice in the industry. It is very common for constructed caps to have the names of baseball or other teams and logos embroidered on them. It is also very common for people to use constructed caps as part of their company uniform. Embroidering the name and/or logo of the company or business on the front of a company hat is a great way promote the business or round out a uniform.
Many people become very attached to their cap and wear it over and over again for years. A constructed cap is a great choice for such a wearer since it is a durable hat which will last a long time. We offer a selection of constructed caps for all occasions!
