Can you screen print t-shirts from a jpeg?

The short answer to whether or not we can screen print t-shirts from a jpeg is no. The long answer is yes we can. The reason I started off with the answer of no is because there isn't a way to directly screen printed t-shirts from a jpeg. The reason I said yes is because there are ways around it.

A jpeg can be a great foundation for a good screen printing job because almost all jpeg's can be converted to vector artwork for print. This is an additional process but one that is very important to make sure the design comes out as clean as possible. Converting a jpeg to vector artwork ensures that there will be no jagged edges where there shouldn't be. The jagged edges around the outside of a jpeg is known as pixelation and this comes from poor resolution. The vector artwork does not have this problem.

We actually use jpeg's all of the time to view artwork and potentially for Web images. The problem would jpeg is that when they are resized, pixelation typically occurs. The next or artwork can be resized up and down as many times as needed and never experience pixelation.

We welcome jpeg's and receive them all of the time but just be aware that they will be comverted to vector artwork. Of course you will get to view this as an artwork proof for approval before we go to print.
